Male candidates must possess a valid Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) driving licence for motorcycle and car on or before the date fixed for the Physical Endurance and Standard Tests (PET/PST). Candidates without a valid driving licence will not be permitted to appear for the physical tests.
For Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF:
Candidates must meet either of the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised university or equivalent; OR
- Matriculation or equivalent along with a three-year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobile, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical or Telecommunication Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university, board or institution.

For all SSC CPO posts except SI Fire in CISF, candidates must meet the following age criteria:
- Minimum Age: 20 years
- Maximum Age: 25 years
- Candidates must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 2001 and not later than 1st August 2006.
